Kirklees Local Television (KLTV) are a film production company and internet-based TV station providing premier local news, views and entertainment for the diverse local people of Kirklees.
KLTV has spent the last six years documenting, recording and broadcasting stories on behalf of the public, private and voluntary sectors, as well as local communities. KLTV is dedicated to providing a bespoke filming service across the Yorkshire area.

Since our launch in November 2011, we have explored, celebrated and informed the Kirklees community, providing regular, topical and interactive web content. Milton is a qualified Organisational Development Consultant with 25 years’ experience of providing national accredited leadership, training, development, coaching and solutions across a range of public, private and voluntary organisations. He is a dynamic and innovative strategic leader with outstanding relationship management skills.
Milton is an experienced consultant in organisational development and holds a MA in ‘Consultation and the Organisastion: Psychoanalytic approaches’ and a PG Dip in Black Leadership in White Institutions from the prestigious, world class Tavistock Institute. As well as delivering guest lectures at the Tavistock Institute and other universities across the country. Milton also enjoys a growing reputation as a national keynote speaker.
Milton has coached and supported senior executives, managers and young people to develop their true leadership potential, gain clarity in their thinking, improve personal effectiveness and performance, develop the talents of their team and motivate the next generation of leaders, thinkers, equality champions, humanitarian activists, educationalists and social change entrepreneurs who strive for social change.
Milton has undertaken a range of research activities including an in-depth study in the impact of gangs and gang culture both in the UK and the USA in 2007.
In October 2011 Milton was honoured with the Fellowship from the United Nations for the International Year of People of African Descent. The aims of the Fellowship are to strengthen national action and regional and international cooperation for the benefit of people of African descent. This includes full integration and participation in economic, cultural, social, civil and political rights and society and the promotion of a greater knowledge of and respect for diverse heritage and culture of people of African descent.
Milton’s latest venture is the development of a grass roots internet TV station ‘Kirklees Local TV’ which provides a voice for the diverse and marginalised communities of Kirklees and West Yorkshire to increase civic engagement and social change.
Milton is currently undertaking a PhD in History and Philosophy at the University of Huddersfield researching the African Descent Communities Navigating Race from the 1960s to Present.
Niki is the Business Director here at KLTV. She oversees the private sector of the business, having many years of experience in the area herself. Niki works closely with businesses to promote the benefits of online videos and ensure that they are always 100% satisfied with the finished product.
A completely self-made business woman, Niki has several qualifications including a NVQ level 3 in Customer Service, a OCN level 4 in Management & Leadership, a ILM Level 3 in Coaching and a TQUK Level 3 in Education and Training. She also has experience in running her own business as the owner of the Wallrock Cafe franchise.
These qualifications and experience in business management have helped Niki immensely in her work at KLTV, from implementing strategic business marketing plans, to evaluating market research in order to adapt to the ever shifting climate of online media.
Inquisitive and ever curious, Niki loves to meet new people and getting to know them. An avid fan of music, from soul to rock, Niki loves it all. To her, family and friends are the most important thing in her life.
Niki’s skills and experience have helped push the boundaries of what KLTV can achieve.
Kyle is KLTV’s Production Manager. He oversees the logistical organisation of all of our shoots and also works on the practical production of said shoots. Not one to shy away from extra responsibilities, Kyle also engages in camera work, editing and presenting when the need arises. He oversees every aspect of production, from inception to realisation.
Having gained a B.A. Degree in film and television production from the University of Wales, Kyle worked as a freelance video producer for over six years, developing projects for a wide range of high profile companies including Channel 4 and ITV. He started working at KLTV in 2013 on a voluntary basis, becoming a full time employee in 2015, quickly rising up the ranks.
A lifelong Huddersfield Town fan with a love of all things sports, when it comes to contests Kyle is always invested. Never one to rest on his laurels, Kyle’s interests vary massively. From film & TV to politics & history, Kyle loves to learn about new and interesting topics.
His work on tightly organised, big budget television shoots has given Kyle a invaluable level of knowledge and experience, which he applies every day to his work here at KLTV through his tremendous work ethic and driven nature.
Carl left school as an apprentice engineer, studying a 201 City n Guilds course and up to 2000 he worked in engineering, labouring and production environments.
In 2000 he started working for the Department for Work and Pensions for two years, where he found great success, helping them receive Job Centre of the Month for that particular office.
Since Carl was 22 and all way through his working life he has wanted to work in a creative environment, and when starting at KLTV found it an enthralling challenge; he greatly enjoys the varied opportunities KLTV offer him every day.
Alisha is the black history coordinator at KLTV, working alongside Milton Brown to create projects which represent the black community in Kirklees.
Since joining KLTV, Alisha has made several short biographies for black role models and local community leaders as well as creating promotional videos for events such as Huddersfield Carnival. On a day-to-day basis she can be found operating cameras and editing footage for various events across the region including shows, protests and charity events. She also assists on the weekly-windup programme, fulfilling duties including floor manager, sound desk and auto cue operations. She studied at Kirklees College for an extended diploma in Creative Media Production and after starting work at KLTV she gained a boost in confidence that compelled her to apply to the University of Salford where she is currently studying for a BA in TV and Radio, having already passed her first year with a 2:1. Alisha’s study at MediaCityUK has given her industry contacts and afforded her the opportunity to sit in on talks with producers from the factual areas of the BBC and ITV. She is able to converse with clients to plan, film and edit footage so that all participants can be proud of the finished video. She aspires to one day become a documentary filmmaker and enjoys writing her own scripts and creating ideas for interesting and unique documentaries.
Dave produces and presents several shows for KLTV, including our news segments and monthly business programme. He is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of sound equipment and the technical operation of all equipment.
With a B.A. in History of Social English Language, Dave’s media career began at the BBC where he was employed for 15 years, starting out as a technical operator, moving onto presenting and eventually becoming a news anchor. He would later be a producer for a daily magazine programme and a specialist music programme, before moving onto becoming a lecturer & tutor at Trinity & All Saints College, specialising in presentation drama and multi-track music recording. Here he tutored students on radio, sound reproduction and presentation, which involved liaising and working with the newly formed Ridings Media, producing local television for the Bradford area. Dave then retired, only to be asked to join the Dearne Media Group, producing local television for the Barnsley area. From this he became involved with Kirklees Local Television in both the Presentation and Technical departments.
At KLTV Dave fully commits himself to any task required of him, from rigging up the sound system to presenting our hard hitting and complex news programmes. Production has always been his hobby as well as spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren – he has subsequently decided it is useless to try to retire as no-one will let him!
Barrie is a director and producer at KLTV, working on Vision Mixing, Sound Mixing and Autocue.
Barrie edits for several of our programmes including The Business Programme and KLTV News and designed the whole KLTV Studio set up – installing all the equipment and wiring with the assistance of Dave Hodgson. With thirty-two years of experience at the BBC and having passed the Technical Operations Exam, Barrie offers endless industry insight and skills, able to meet any requirements at KLTV with ease.
Barrie’s BBC Career started in Technical Operations in Manchester later moving to Leeds as a Studio Manager working mainly on Radio Drama with some Light Entertainment and Television work. He later became Producer at BBC Radio Leeds where he spent twenty years specialising in Music Productions and Presentation. After retirement, Barrie set up a recording business specialising in Brass Bands, Choirs and Orchestras and he also worked extensively for Doyen Record, and at the end of 2014 he became involved with KLTV, helping to set up both the recording studio and control room for broadcasting.
Barrie’s interests involve Music and Drama and he often helps local Amateur Dramatic Societies with their productions and he is also a member of Wakefield Little Theatre Group. In his spare time Barrie creates music backing tracks for his partner Wendy so that she can entertain at retirement homes, he describes himself someone who likes to keep busy and hates being idle.
Emma is a presenter for various programmes at KLTV including the Weekly Windup and KLTV News.
Emma graduated with a degree in Osteopathic Medicine, gaining a doctorate in Osteomyology and became a Clinical Nutritionist. She was awarded Osteomyologist of the Year in 2012 and was the youngest practitioner to be given this honour, she was awarded the honorary title of Consultant in 2011 and was the first practitioner to be awarded this honour in the history of the science. As a member of the Royal Society of Medicine and an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, Emma’s experience and influence brings a professional and compassionate atmosphere to her work at KLTV.
Emma took the opportunity to be a presenter at KLTV as she is currently a health, food and fitness blogger and users her social media presence to be a positive influencer, finding it to be a useful platform for those in the fitness and health profession who wish to highlight how they may be able to help others attain a healthy lifestyle. Emma’s aim is to promote everyday health, fitness and a nourishing lifestyle that can be sustained and eliminate the need of a ‘perpetual diet’. Emma’s broad knowledge and multi-faceted approach allow her to engage with any audience and interviewees on and off camera, as her professional and personal life experiences resonate with many different people.
Emma’s stance is that ‘the secret to good health and fitness should be available to all’ and that access to media platforms like KLTV is paramount for finding your own path. Like all our presenters, Emma greatly enjoys interviewing the guests that KLTV hosts as they tend to be equally driven professionals, experts and activists with a passion for their particular subject area.
Nicola Green is an NLP practioner Hypnotherapist and intuitive reader/healer.
She inspires others to believe in themselves and helps them clarify their direction. Her hobbies include music and singing; Nicola has done work in different bands and has performed all around surrounding areas.
Her empathic connection is what she brings to KLTV viewers. She hopes to spread her messages and create real change for all who are ready.
Liz presents The Business Programme at KLTV. She is passionate about entrepreneurship, the growth of small businesses and encouraging more women, young people and those from minority groups to run businesses. Liz encourages her guests to speak their truth and give us real insights into their work. Entrepreneurs reveal their stories and opinions to benefit our diverse business audience.
Liz is the owner of a strategy and high-performance coaching and consultancy business and is a family-business specialist. She works with clients in health, professional services, retail, creative and digital, and the technology sector.

Helen is a presenter on our topical interview show, ‘Weekly Wind-Up’. Her naturally friendly and inviting personality puts our guests’ minds at ease when being interviewed. Always keen to get the most from her guests, Helen has real flair and passion in her presenting style.
Helen is the Managing Director and Co-founder of Purple Dog, a first-aid and health & safety training company. As a fully qualified teacher, Helen has spent 30 years supporting individuals and families with barriers to learning through various methods. This includes 5 years spent coordinating a national project in Kirklees and 2 years spent working with refugees and asylum seekers.
This level of skill and experience has allowed Helen to thrive in her work at KLTV. being so used to talking to people from all over the community, Helen has a natural rapport with the people of Kirklees.
A woman defined by wanderlust, Helen loves to travel and see the world, exploring as much as she can. She is also a dedicated food lover, with a penchant for cooking from scratch. Reading and spending time with friends and family are also a big part of Helen’s life.
